Senior Researcher in Computer Vision (80%-100%)

TOELT is seeking as soon as possible a Senior Researcher (80% - 100%) to join our research and development department, focused on making significant progress in machine learning and in particular computer vision. The position is for a young professional with expertise in deep learning applied to computer vision for a large project that deals with satellite imaging. The candidate in this role is expected to have research experience in identified research areas such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, computational statistics, and applied mathematics, particularly including areas such as deep learning and computer vision. The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in producing new science and turn research into usable and impactful applications.

Contract Duration: The contract will be limited to 1 year, with the possibility of renewing up to 3 years.

We collaborate with universities and industry partners. Our goal is to advance the state of the art in several machine learning areas and to make it available to people, thus making it impactful. Responsibilities

  • Collaborate on research in developing new algorithms for computer vision.
  • Collaborate on research that enables new and efficient analysis of satellite images on very large datasets or on new facial technologies based on thermal imaging.
  • Collaborate on research on how to integrate AI algorithms in web applications to make the developed solution available to the users.
  • Influence progress of research by producing publications and presenting at conferences.
  • Work in distributed teams across the globe in a rapidly growing and challenging environment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently has or is in the process of obtaining a PhD degree in Physics, Computer Science or Mathematics or related field or has similar comparable experience.
  • Has already published in peer-reviewed journals that demonstrate experience in the computer vision field.
  • Advanced knowledge in programming, especially Python and in the use of deep learning libraries. TensorFlow is preferred.
  • Must have a work permit for Switzerland or be able to get one. If in doubt contact us and we will help in clarifying this point.
  • Must be able to work independently on complex projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • First author in peer-reviewed publications or conference proceedings.
  • Experience conducting original research in computer vision.

Junior Researcher in Computer Vision (80%)

TOELT is seeking to fill a position of a Junior Researcher (80%) as soon as possible to join our research and development department, focused on making progress in machine learning and in particular computer vision. The position is suitable for a young professional with expertise in deep learning applied to computer vision for a large project that deals with Thermal imaging.

The candidate for this role is expected to have some research experience in identified research areas such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, computational statistics, and/or applied mathematics, particularly including areas such as deep learning and computer vision. The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in producing new science and turn research into usable and impactful applications.

Contract Duration: The contract will be for 3 years.
